Frequently Asked Questions

  • Ages 5-12: We LOVE to have parents volunteer to help with their child’s team for ages 5-11. Email Coach Leanne TODAY and she can fill you in on current needs and provide our recommended training.

We assign head coaches about 1-2 months before the fall and spring seasons start. Assistants are a huge help to each team and can join at any time!

Ages 2-4: Soccer Skills Academy employs trained and enthusiastic coaches to work with this special age group. If you are interested in a competitively-paying job with a once or twice a week evening commitment, please email Coach Leanne IMMEDIATELY!

  • Our practices are either 30 mins or 60 minutes depending on the age group.

    For Parent+Tot ages 2-3 it’s 25 minutes.

Mini League, and ages 2-4 it's 30 minutes.

For ages 4-6 and beyond it will be 60 minutes.

We have it this way because older groups span through a larger age range and attention spans. Most of the games we present during practices are inclusive for all ability levels, however, we focus more on teaching more technical soccer skills to the older groups, such as passing, shooting, proper dribbling etc. For our younger groups, it's more focused on having fun and having the kids comfortable using their feet instead of their hands. We want them to love the game! Not resent it.  :)

  • You can view the status of all our classes in the registration link(link), if there is a waiting list we ask that you sign up to as many as you like as spots tend to open up and we can transfer any available spots!

  • Remember one of our goals at Soccer Skills Academy: How can we help them have fun and love soccer?

If you find yourself scrambling on and off the field with a whiny child or coaxing them back from the playground, you're not alone! I almost stopped showing up to my son's Skyhawks program when he was 2.5 because it was too much work just to keep him on the field for more than 3 minutes

Please feel freedom in helping your child have a positive experience. You might want to try any of these strategies:

    • Join your child on the field for a bit

    • Grab a cone to do the drills with your child away from the group

    • Sit and watch with your child until they're ready to join us

    • Practice the things your child saw us do once you're back at home

    • Never force your child to do anything they don't want to do

    • Try again next week

    • And just be patient. Your child's development is constantly changing!

    • And let us know how we coaches can help!

***Please note, if your child is creating too much of a distraction for the other athletes to be able to engage in their training effectively, we would greatly appreciate your help in speaking to your child and redirecting them when needed. Stay close, and be prepared to sit with them on the sidelines if the coach deems it necessary for them to take a time out.

  • ABSOLUTELY. Please contact your coach and tell them all your best ideas! If you don’t know how to reach your coach, you can email Coach Leanne and she can make the connection for you.
